Triangle Borea BR10 speakers

There's no getting away from it, the BR10 are a large speaker, especially for one at this price point.

So I would suggest users with smaller rooms may want to look elsewhere (probably at one of the other options from the Triangle Borea range). The manufacturer suggest they are for rooms sized in the 30m square region or more, whilst different room construction will play a big part in this, it's still a useful ball park.

With that caveat out of the way, the BR10 has an awful lot going for it. They are a big sounding speaker, that probably comes as no surprise, they are also usefully efficient, ditto! 

So they work wonderfully with our favourite (generally low powered valve) amplification, sounding effortless and refined yet absolutely able to kick up a storm when the music requires it.

If the speaker has weaknesses, and no speaker doesn't especially at this sort of price point, is a touch of colouration from the cabinet and a slight softening and warmth to the bass (as I find is common with woven bass cones).

With that out of the way we have the strengths that greatly outweigh these traits, there's a refined treble thanks to the 1" soft dome tweeter and a natural and intimate midrange due to the stiff 6" paper cone of the mid range. The two 8" bass drivers ensure high efficiency is achieved along, with the resulting dynamic prowess you'd expect.

The scale and fun factor of these speakers is off the chart for a design at this price level. Partner it with a good entry to mid level valve amplifier (a Pure Sound A10 for the former, an Audion Sterling EL34 for the latter) and a decent source and you will have a system that can do dynamics and believability in larger spaces that most people wouldn't believe was possible.

If you have a larger room that wont be visually (and sonically) dominated by these speakers, possibly a limited budget and have a great sounding (likely valve) amplifier then these really are a cracking speaker from Triangle.
