The Planar 78 is quite a niche product, but one that helps bring to life the dawning days of audio recordings.
It has one aim, and that is to play 78 RPM records, it offers no other speeds, so is dedicated to the task. It therefore requires a dedicated stylus intended to play these records, Rega make their own RB78 cartridge for this which we sell as a package and can be selected from the purchasing options.
It has a matt black plinth (actually more a dark grey), 24v motor and RB220 arm with a phenolic platter. We can fit the cartridge if preferred, or supply it loose for you to do yourself.
Clear hinged lid included, that's also easy to lift off completely when required.
