The Planar 6 is a distillation of the radical Planar 8 and 10 models into a simplified and more conventional design. It has a conventional square plinth, and the normal lift off/hinged lid as found on the more affordable turntables, but uses many advancements that first saw the light of day in the top of the range Rega turntables.
Key to this model is the lightweight plinth, which is an aerospace derived foam cored material finished in a smartly subdued matt finish. A brace above and below the plinth additionally tie the tonearm and main bearing together with great rigidity.
It is available in two different colours and we can supply it with or without a cartridge (and there are even more cartridge options available, if you want one just ask!). We prefer to setup the turntable and fit the counterweight, so it's all ready to go when you collect it, but if you would prefer to do this yourself just let us know.
The Planar 6 is hand made in the UK (in Southend on Sea) and features the superb RB330 tonearm. A design using a cast arm tube which remove the normal joints found on most other tonearms making it very rigid - this reduces the chances of amplifying surface noise and gives great resolution.
The motor is a 24v design, with and is supplied with a pre calibrated Neo power supply which produces a clean and accurate waveform whilst also allowing electronic speed change between 33.3 and 45 rpm.
A dual layer glass platter adds a strong flywheel effect and is finished in a smoked finish on the matt black deck and clear on the matt finish version. This platter is rigidly coupled onto a beautifully turned aluminium sub platter .
A clear lid is included on the matt white plinth and a smoked version on the matt black, both of which can be hinged upwards or lifted off entirely.
