The iconic Quad 33 pre amplifier is a design classic. It was Quads first transistor pre amplifier and was introduced in 1967. The design won Quad an award from the Council of Industrial Design in 1969. It's easy to forget just how radical this product was back when it was launched. It's still a great looking product today.
So it's with great delight we will see its return in November 2024 with a new edition, that's faithful to the original in many ways, with some modern touches to boot.
The design now features a remote control, switchable MM and MC phono stage, headphone output and balanced inputs and outputs alongside regular single ended RCA connections, making this one very flexible pre amplifier.
The backlit display gives access to some of the other features including an implementation of the famous Quad tilt tonal balance control first seen in the Quad 44. These are much more useful than crude tone controls for the rare occasions when you may need to adjust the sound.
