The DB1 is a very impressive loudspeaker, it's a very clever design which is fairly compact yet is large enough to produce a big sound (naturally in small to medium sized rooms) and not suffer from the obvious dynamic compression that most smaller designs suffer from.

They are similar in price to our beloved ProAc SM100 and (unsurprisingly) do share some similarities. They are both tonally faithful, they both sound bigger than they should and both can make you forget about the equipment and simply get engrossed in the music. Where they differ is a trade off in mid band resolution, the SM100 will ruthlessly reveal the limitations of most amplification and sources, whereas the DB1 is much more tolerant. This makes them much easier to partner and use, and for that reason alone will make them applicable to many more systems.

The cabinets are made from different thicknesses of high density MDF and further damped by bitumen to control cabinet resonance. This is combined with a new long throw bass driver with a from pulp and Pagina mica which is then elastic coated and fitted with the ProAc acrylic pole damping phase plug. This is combined with a 1" silk dome tweeter and integrated with a very carefully engineered crossover which provides a seamless transition throughout the mid band,
