The Pro-Ject Flatten-It is quite remarkable. All warped and concave records are completely flattened after a session in the Flatten-It.
Whilst it's not inexpensive it is cheaper than many alternatives and works flawlessly in our experience - we have yet to have a record beat it...
The process takes just over 3 hours all in, you turn it on for a few minutes to warm it up (this doesn't take long), then place the LP between a (replaceable) paper sleeve inside its press and leave for 2 hours, then at that point turn it to cool and leave for a further 1 hour.
The temperature used is a gentle 58 degrees (hence the fairly long heating process) and a reminder as to how low a temperature is required to warp an LP in the first place - please get those LPs out of the loft!
The end result is a freshly pressed LP looking like a pair of trousers straight out of a Corby trouser press (probably a slightly obscure reference for our readers outside the UK).
The temperature is held within a tight 2 degree tolerance and apart from an occasional relay clicking the heating element on and off it is silent in operation.
We have tried it with everything from the flimsiest records to 200gm pressing and the results have been excellent every time, whether due to a manufacturing defect or poor handling/storage, the results are the same.
It is very solidly built from a aluminium sandwich material with very well engineered heating plates it is maintenance free apart from the possible occasional change of the sacrificial paper liner (which are available here).
