'The Original' is the latest model that forms the basis of the Debut model line up.
It's a pleasingly familiar design that can trace its lineage back to the late nineties - and why change it when it's such a classic. The product has evolved over the years of course, there's a Carbon Fibre toneam which is both light and rigid and a high quality Ortofon sourced MM cartridge as standard.
The solid MDF plinth is available in three finishes, a Satin Black, a Gloss Black and a real Walnut wood veneer.
The in house designed and manufactured AC motor is fed from an internal AC power supply (which itself is fed from an external ‘wall wart’ power supply) and is mounter on a TPE damped motor plate which is more rigidly coupled to the MDF plinth than before.
The new 1.7kg platter is made from steel, providing a strong flywheel effect and reducing speed fluctuations.
The supplied cartridge is the Pick it S2MM, an elliptically tipped design made by Ortofon for Pro-Ject
Playback of 33.3, 45 and 78rpm is possible, with simple switch operation to go between 33.3 and 45. For 78rpm you swap to a different belt which uses its own ridge on the motor pulley (you will also need to change to a 78rpm compatible stylus, not supplied).
A hinged/lift off clear lid is included.
