The SPU #1S is the starting point within the famous SPU range of cartridges and is very much the classic recipe you'd expect. It uses a 18 µm spherical bonded stylus profile, copper coils and is contained in a housing made as a composite of wood particles in resin.
The sound is classic SPU, it's all about colour, scale and body, this is no anaemic detail fiend, it paints with broad brush strokes and captures the emotion and vibrancy of the recording in its purest form.
This cartridge is suited to arms that are moderate to high mass and have an 'SME' type headshell connection.
Due to their nature, there can be a lead time on SPU orders, so please ask before ordering if delivery time scale is critical.
As MC cartridges do not have removable stylus assemblies Ortofon have an 'exchange' scheme where your old worn/damaged Ortofon MC cartridge is used as a credit against any other Ortofon MC cartridge.
