Ortofon MC X50 MC Cartridge

The MC X50 is the top of the Ortofon 'MC X' Moving Coil cartridge range.

Like all models in the MC X range it features a chassis made with by Metal Injection Moulding a stainless steel honeycomb structure. This is then sintered and coated with a vapour deposited finish. The result is claimed to be an incredibly stiff, but lightweight chassis for the moving parts to work within.

The coils are wound from pure silver and every detail down to the material of the suspension is carefully considered - the extent that the rubber dampers are designed and made in house.

The MC X50 features a nude Miro Ridge stylus which is mounted on a very rigid Boron cantilever, for the best coupling of the groove movement into the generator assembly - the result is improvements to speed, dynamics and transparency.

As MC cartridges do not have removable stylus assemblies Ortofon have an 'exchange' scheme where your old worn/damaged Ortofon MC cartridge is used as a credit against any other Ortofon MC cartridge.
