Ortofon MC X20 MC Cartridge

The MC X20 is the second model up in the entry level Ortofon Moving Coil cartridge range.

Like all models in the MC X range it features a chassis made with by Metal Injection Moulding a stainless steel honeycomb structure. This is then sintered and coated with a vapour deposited finish. The result is claimed to be an incredibly stiff, but lightweight chassis for the moving parts to work within.

The coils are wound from pure silver and every detail down to the material of the suspension is carefully considered - the extent that the rubber dampers are designed and made in house.

The MC X20 features a nude (one piece) elliptical stylus which brings much greater mechanical integrity along with lower moving mass compared to the tipped stylus of the cheaper model, which brings greater resolution and immediacy. This stylus is mounted on an aluminium tube cantilever and effectively replaces the Ortofon Quintet Blue cartridge.

As MC cartridges do not have removable stylus assemblies Ortofon have an 'exchange' scheme where your old worn/damaged Ortofon MC cartridge is used as a credit against any other Ortofon MC cartridge.
