The Cadenza Black is rather special cartridge. It's like an even more accomplished version of the Cadenza Blue which we are also big fans of. It brings improvements in resolution, image definition and refinement whilst retaining the basic rightness and even handed balance of the Blue (and the Blue is hardly lacking in any of these areas to begin with!). This is a great toe tapping cartridge, lots of involvement and vibrancy without becoming forward or brash.

Again the key ingredient appears to be a stiff cantilever, this time made from Boron with a nude Shibata diamond fitted to it.

The compact body is made from a combination of stainless steel and aluminium which serve to damp one another producing a relatively lightweight and extremely rigid housing.

As MC cartridges do not have removable stylus assemblies Ortofon have an 'exchange' scheme where your old worn/damaged Ortofon MC cartridge is used as a credit against any other Ortofon MC cartridge.
