JA Michell Turntable Record Clamp (Black, Silver, Standard & Rega Versions)

The Michell Record Clamp is a classic lightweight clamp, that can be both useful to reduce warps during playback as well as changing the sound.

Please note that there are two different versions (for shorter or longer spindles) and two finishes (Silver or Black knobs):

'Standard' Black which is suitable for spindles that protrude over 6.5mm in height or more. Black anodised knob.
'Standard' Silver which is suitable for spindles that protrude over 6.5mm in height or more. Silver anodised knob.

'R' version" Black for is for shorter spindles that are 5mm tall or more (i.e. Rega). Black Anodised knob.
'R' version" Silver for is for shorter spindles that are 5mm tall or more (i.e. Rega). Silver Anodised knob.

The main part of the clamp is made from black Delrin (a hard vinyl like material) and the knurled knob is an anodised aluminium which is available in either silver or black finish.

It is amongst the lighter clamps available and weighs approximately 60gm so is suitable for all but the most sensitive sprung turntables.

To use simply place onto the record, press down and tighten the knurled knob and it will hold the LP as flat as possible and increase the coupling effect between the record and platter. Please do not tighten the knob when it is not on a spindle as you can damage the mechanism. Clamps can be very useful to help reduce the severity of certain types of warps and concave LPs.
