Goldring 1022GX MM Cartridge

The Goldring 1000 series of cartridges have been around for many years in various forms, and with very good reason. They excel with their tonality, weight and scale, and are just brilliant all round performers.

They are hand made in the UK and have the added benefit that they can be up or down graded just by changing to other styli from the 1000 range.

The 1022 is the third model up in the range and features a Vital PH type diamond cut, which provides increased resolution and ensures the maximum accuracy of musical reproduction.

The body is made from a strong but lightweight Pocon material, a glass reinforced polyester. The cartridge is supplied with a set of allen bolts/nuts and an allen key.

The generator is made from finely etched mu-metal which is laminated to form the pole pieces around which are fitted two formerless coils of four thousand turns each. This unique design reduces mass and also makes for a very efficient magnetic circuit producing a higher than average output. This construction also reduces the loss at high frequencies inherent in conventional designs, making for a smooth and extended frequency response.

The 1000 series uses a unique ultra-low-mass, micro-miniature Alnico V magnet made to a tolerance that can be achieved by no other manufacturer worldwide, resulting in a low moving mass. Welded to the magnet is a gold plated nickel tie-bar which provides an earth path for vinyl static charge build up and stabilises the cantilever in unwanted vibrational modes. The whole ultra-low-mass assembly is then mounted in a special butyl rubber polymer with optimised damping characteristics.
