Heco Celan Revolution 3
Heco Celan Revolution 3
The Celan Revolution 3 is the smallest (and only stand mounter) speaker in the range. Like the rest of the family it combines a paper cone mid/bass driver with a large soft dome tweeter - a match which when done well (as it is here) results in a very natural and transparent sound.
The speakers distinctive appearance is due to the desire to reduce the number of parallel internal cabinet walls, which helps randomise the internal reflections, hence the curved sides and angled top. It certainly appears to have worked too, these speakers do not have any obvious box colourations I can single out, and the sound is not constrained to the boxes either - the sound is bigger and wider than you'd expect at this size and price level.
The 6.5" bass/mid driver and cabinet volume is large enough that there's a decent balance of efficiency and bass extension, and they're appear easy to drive too. On the rear there's the choice of 'flat' or +2dB for the tweeter, in our use we found the latter the preferred option, the sound is not bright and is actually very nicely balanced. The 'flat' position might be suitable for people with less damped and more reflective listening rooms.
These speakers are a bit of a hidden gem, where else can you find such a well developed speaker that also looks great and yet costs less than most people would ever expect?
