This is an MC Step Up transformer made be the legendary Be Yamamura.
When I got this transformer it was in need of restoration. At some point the transformers had been painted grey but it was a poor quality non original finish and was flaking off. I carefully removed the paint and as the raw metal looked so good I coated them in lacquer to prevent the copper cans from oxidising. This was done several years ago and they still look very nice. The stainless steel chassis is completely original, as that was still in good condition.
The internal hook up wiring had been modified and was well done so we rewired the hook up wiring with our own cotton covered pure silver. No RCA sockets were fitted when I got it (it had been hard wired with the cables simply protruding through the holes), so we fitted silver plated RCA sockets in the original holes and wired them up appropriately. The RCA sockets show light tarnishing as is inevitable with silver plated sockets, this does not affect performance and can be cleaned off if desired.
The transformers offer different ratios to ensure a good match with a wide variety of cartridges.
Whilst we do not guarantee the figures, the 'Low' setting appears to be approximately a 1:20 ratio, with the 'High' setting being a 1:15 ratio.
This is a seriously great sounding transformer and I'll be sad to see it go.
It weighs a substantial 2.5kg(!), is 210mm deep, 90mm wide and 133mm tall.
