This is a superb sounding pair of Black Shadow mono block power that we supplied new to the previous (and only) owner.
They have been tastefully upgraded with various modifications by ourselves over the years, to take the performance up several notches over standard.
As standard these Black Shadow are real showcases for what the imposing 845 can do. They major on tone, scale and dynamics and are able to drive all but the very most difficult speaker loads.
The modifications include Audio Note 1W and 2W Tantalum resistors, Audio Note Copper in Oil coupling capacitors, Deco Audio/Heretic Audio Silver Wire, upgraded valve bases for the output valves, Elna Silmic & Audio Note 'Standard' Electrolytic capacitors and the Mundorf TubeCap film capacitors on the cathode of the 845s. The modifications do not change the excellent original circuit and simply build upon the original model by sounding even more natural, accurate, detailed and precise.
They have currently have an assortment of tested 'good' valves in them however we are not able to put any warranties on the valves as we do not know how much usage they have had. We can supply a brand new set of valves for an additional £428 on top of the purchase price, the reason why we have not done this as standard is because we know some customer may have their own preference for the valves used (at that price we would be supplying Shuguang 845B, E182CC/equivalent and JJ 6922).
The amplifiers have a volume/gain control on the front, so they could be used with a single source without a pre amplifier. This control is also very useful when working with a variety of different gains as found across different pre amplifiers and speaker sensitivities and combinations thereof.
I would say the amplifiers are in very good overall cosmetic condition.
