The P4 Balanced Tonmeister are substantial mono block amplifiers and are the most powerful fully contained power amplifiers in the Audio Note range, making them ideal for anyone that doesn't want exposed valves.

They have Balanced XLR inputs and the signal immediately goes in to an input transformer (they can be used with a single ended pre amplifier with the right cable as long as it can drive the low input impedance required).

As befits an Audio Note amplifier with the Tonmeister name, this amplifier features an interstage transformer between the 5687 dual triode and the pair of 300B valves (working in parallel single ended). There is no capacitor coupling inside this amplifier. This clever but difficult to execute design philosophy allows the number of deleterious parts in the signal path to be reduced, simplifying the circuit and dramatically lowering colouration and improving transparency.

This sort of design lives or dies on the quality of its transformers, and as you'd expect they are an area that Audio Note spent a lot of time perfecting.
