The P1 SE 35 Signature power amplifier celebrates the 35th anniversary since the original Oto, which shares the same power amplification design, was introduced.
The updates including bespoke in-house components and a redesigned power supply. According to Audio Note’s designers, the update delivers stronger, more realistic bass while preserving the musical character that made the Oto a classic.
“Over the last three decades, the design of the Oto has undergone various evolutions,” says Chief Designer Andy Grove. “I decided it was time to give the Oto SE a complete makeover. The result is an amplifier with a more realistic 'bass kick', the kind of physical presence you feel when you are in the room with a kick drum or a bass guitar. It remains an all-round musical, fun-to-live-with amplifier, but it can now summon a serious amount of attitude when the recording demands it.”

The P1 SE 35 Signature takes the core strengths of the standard P1SE and sprinkles in upgraded parts to lift the performance to the next level. The basic design is the same, so there are a pair of EL84 valves per channel that run in parallel single ended topology and are fed from ECC83 dual triodes.
This power amplifier if broadly similar to that found in the Oto SE Signature integrated amplifier.
The Signature improvements include upgraded Audio Note Copper foil in oil signal capacitors, Audio Note Tantalum resistors in critical locations and arguably the biggest improvement is a set of even higher quality output transformers, these are very special IHiB, C-Core designs wound with copper wire.
A volume control on the fascia allows both fine tuning of overall gain (very useful when the amplifier is combined with very high efficiency speakers and/or a high gain pre amplifier) as well as allowing volume control of a single source.
