The Dac 2.1x Signature is, as the name suggests, the Signature version of 2.1x.
The upgrades over the standard 2.1 are found in both the power supply and the component quality. Here the HT supply is valve rectified and choke smoothed, and the signal path features even higher quality parts including Audio Note Tantalum resistors and copper foil in oil capacitors, along with upgraded wiring.
Arguably this is something of a sweet spot in the Audio Note DAC range. It has the wonderful dynamics and musicality that make all Audio Note DACs so special and imbues the sound with a tonal richness and lack of grain that can only be found by using higher quality parts. It's very natural sounding converter and 'disappears' in a well setup system very effectively.
